For an international company or an inventor living abroad, the practical side of filing in another country is often harder than the legal side. Who signs what? Which documents must be translated? How will official letters reach you, and how fast? Our foreign applicants service answers those questions before they cause delay.
A single point of contact in Iran
We act as your representative before the registry. Official communications come to us; we read them, explain them and send you a recommendation with the relevant deadline. You never need to deal with forms in Persian or follow up by phone.
Bringing an existing patent family to Iran
Most foreign clients already have an application on file elsewhere. We review it for Iranian requirements: the form of the claims, the drawings, the language and the formal documents. Where your earliest filing gives you a priority date, we confirm what is needed to rely on it and the time available.
- Review of the existing specification, claims and drawings
- Translation into Persian with a technical check of the result
- Preparation of the power of attorney and any assignment documents
- Filing and confirmation of filing details
- Examination responses coordinated with you or your home attorneys
- Recording of grant and tracking of maintenance
Working through your home attorneys
Many foreign filings reach us from patent firms acting for the applicant. We are comfortable taking instructions from them, reporting in the format they prefer and matching the terminology used elsewhere in the family, so the Iranian file reads as part of one coherent portfolio.
Designs and trademarks too
Companies entering a new market rarely need only a patent. We can file industrial designs for the look of your products and run a trademark check on the brand you plan to use, so that the launch is covered on every side.
Communication you can plan around
Every update states what happened, what it means, what we recommend and when a decision is needed. If something is uncertain, we say so and explain how we propose to resolve it. Write to us with your filing dates and documents to begin.
Questions we are often asked
Do I need a local representative to file in Iran?
Applicants based outside Iran generally act through a local representative for filing and correspondence with the registry. We take on that role, receive official communications and report them to you promptly in English.
Will my documents need translating?
Documents filed in Iran generally need to be in Persian. We arrange translation of the specification and claims and check that the technical meaning survives the translation, which is where many problems start.
What about signatures and certification?
Some documents, such as a power of attorney or an assignment, may need to be signed and certified in a particular way in your country. We tell you exactly which documents are required for your case and how to prepare them.
Can you work with our existing patent attorneys?
Yes. Much of our work comes through foreign patent firms. We coordinate with your attorneys, follow their instructions and keep reporting consistent with the rest of your portfolio.
